Tricia de Vera, secretary for the Daly City Public Library Associates, told the Daly City Library Board of Trustees on April 16 that DCPLA will host the Daly City Youth Poet Laureate commencement on April 25 at Daly City City Hall, with performances beginning at 6:30 p.m. and a reception to follow.
The DCPLA also announced its third annual Art & Lit Fest on Nov. 2, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ceremony Center, which will feature local artists, vendors, musicians and authors. De Vera said the festival provides a platform for local creatives and asked the board and community to help publicize the events.
"We hope that you can all attend to show support for these amazing teens," de Vera said, inviting trustees and residents to the Youth Poet Laureate commencement and noting a reception will follow. She asked businesses and individuals interested in sponsoring or vending to visit dcpla.org to complete membership and vendor forms. Memberships begin at a minimum of $20; DCPLA said funds support library programs.
The DCPLA report also encouraged attendance at other programs that connect the library to the community and asked trustees to help promote events and memberships that benefit local library services.
No formal board action was recorded during the presentation; trustees responded with expressions of support and questions about logistics.
