Daly City proclaims May Wildfire Preparedness Month; North County Fire Authority outlines community outreach

Daly City’s council proclaimed May 2024 as Wildfire Preparedness Month, citing statewide wildfire exposure and urging residents to know their evacuation zones and maintain defensible space around homes. The proclamation referenced statewide statistics on wildfire acres burned and tools such as Genesis Protect (formerly Zonehaven) used to inform evacuations.

A North County Fire Authority representative accepted the proclamation and encouraged residents to maintain landscaping, clear gutters and visit an Arden Park event scheduled for May 19 to receive preparedness information and materials. The representative provided the fire authority’s contact information for residents who need help preparing their homes.
