Thomas Nouris sworn in as planning commissioner; commission elects officers

The Daly City Planning Commission on May 7 administered the oath of office to Thomas Nouris, who was then welcomed by council members and community members and briefly addressed the commission.

Glenn Sylvester provided an extended introduction citing Nouris's long residency in Daly City, his educational background (University of San Francisco; UC Hastings College of Law), civic involvement including prior committee service and board positions, and experience in land development. "It's a great privilege for me to join you on this commission... I promise to do the best that I can to work with everyone and to do what we need to do to further our city," Nouris said after taking the oath.

The commission also conducted its reorganization. A nomination for 'Cheryl' as chair was put forward and nominations were closed; commissioners cast aye votes during a roll call. A vice chair was nominated and elected in a subsequent roll call. Commissioners and members of the public offered congratulations and urged commissioners to attend training opportunities.

The swearing-in and officer elections were procedural actions at the start of the meeting; no land-use decisions were taken as part of the oath or nominations.
