City staff presented a relaunch of the Lock Haven mobile app and encouraged residents to download it from the Apple App Store and Google Play by searching "Lock Haven City." Staff described the app as an information hub that mirrors many items on the city website and includes a new "Report an issue" feature that allows users to attach photos, use device location or default to City Hall and receive email and push updates on the issue’s resolution.
The presentation noted that the app prompts users to allow location access and push notifications; staff said location access helps pre-fill the report location and push alerts keep users informed about progress and emergency notices. Staff said forms such as park use applications and council minutes are accessible in the app and that, when a city worker completes a reported task, the reporting user will receive an automatic notification.
Staff acknowledged low historic engagement with the prior app — active users and submissions have fallen since its launch — and said the relaunch is part of renewed outreach: the city will repost demonstration video links, include app information in promotional 'Good Neighbor' bags and share links on social media. Staff provided a point of contact for questions: Casey Campbell, director of community life, at the phone number given in the council presentation.
Council members asked about current download numbers and strategies to raise usage; staff said active users numbered about 500 in the last reported figure and annual submissions had been under 50 in recent years. The city plans targeted promotion and use of push notifications to increase resident engagement.
