Lock Haven honors long-serving fire chief and appoints new department leaders

Lock Haven’s city council on the evening adopted a ceremonial resolution honoring Norm Wolfram for 32 years of service to the city’s fire department and approved new leadership appointments effective July 1.

The council read a resolution recognizing Wolfram’s service and unanimously approved the measure. After the resolution vote, a speaker who accepted the council’s recognition thanked city officials, saying, “I wanna thank the city and city council for all the support that you’ve given the fire department for over the years.” The council offered similar words of thanks in the meeting record.

Later on new business, council accepted a recommendation from the Lock Haven Fire Advisory Board and approved appointments for the 07/01/2022–06/30/2024 term: Robert Neff as fire chief, Tyler Woody as deputy fire chief and Eric Broomgar as assistant fire chief. The appointments were moved, seconded and approved by roll-call voice votes with no recorded objections.

Why it matters: The leadership changes and the ceremonial recognition formalize transition plans for the department and provide continuity ahead of the summer months, when staffing and readiness are key for municipal emergency response.

What’s next: The appointments take effect July 1, 2022. Staff will update departmental rosters and administrative files to reflect the new leadership.
