Council approves YMCA and park items, acknowledges resignation and local programs

At its meeting, Lock Haven’s council approved several community and administrative items grouped as smaller but substantive agenda matters.

YMCA funding: Council adopted Resolution 2022-26 to secure $31,047 in funding to support Tier 1 repairs at the YMCA pool. Council members described the YMCA as an important community resource and voted in favor of the allocation.

Hannah Park pickleball courts: Council approved using funds raised by a local pickleball group (staff reported about $17,000–$18,000 raised, and the group is not formally organized) to reimburse costs for Hannah Park courts. Council noted the need for formal action to allow city staff to expend those raised funds.

Personnel: Council accepted the resignation of patrol officer Greg Fisher, who is taking a position with Pennsylvania State Police. The resignation was acknowledged and accepted by vote; council members expressed thanks for his service.

Monuments: The county requested council consent to relocate three Veterans Park monuments to county-owned parcels (Old Fort Monument to the Clinton County Courthouse property; two others to the Piper area). Staff explained the city cannot own or fund countywide monuments under the third-class city code; council consented to the relocations and approved the action.

Announcements: Council member Stevenson requested RSVPs for a FEMA training scheduled for Tuesday, July 19 at 7:00 p.m., open to elected officials across Clinton County. Parks staff introduced a 'Little Rangers' passport program for children—participants will collect stamps and earn badges and a prize on completion; full details will be published in a monthly episode.
