Parlier ' City staff reported construction progress on the city's TCP water-filtration project and previewed a public tour of the works-in-progress.
"This project is in construction," Javier, a city staff member, told the council, summarizing a site tour held earlier in the week. "We're bringing up 2 wells back online that were dormant for 20 years," he said, and described five active sites where filters and tanks are being assembled. Javier said the work is supported by a $16,000,000 grant and stressed that some pipeline and electrical connections are underway at the Manning pipeline treatment location.
Javier and other staff showed photographs and a short video of tanks being assembled and said that, depending on weather and schedule, the treated wells and tanks might be operational around November. Council members asked staff to continue offering public tours and updates so residents could see progress firsthand.
The chief and other councilmembers thanked staff for grant procurement and for organizing the tour. Council members emphasized timeliness and maintenance needs once the system is active.
Staff did not present a full budget breakdown in this meeting but said multiple funding sources and prior settlement monies have been used across phases of the broader water project; council asked staff to continue reporting on funding allocations and schedule milestones.
The council did not take formal action on the project during this meeting; the update was informational and will be followed up with additional site tours and status reports.
