The Knott County Fiscal Court on March 5 approved a resolution authorizing a 25% payment to begin repairs at the Knott County Human Service Center.
During discussion, an unidentified court speaker said contractors have restored heating and cooling to portions of the building and have ‘‘framed off a new wall behind the kitchen’’ so deliveries of meat and frozen foods can be staged closer to the kitchen. The speaker added, “they're making really good progress.” An unidentified participant asked about timing; the court estimated work could be finished around June or July.
A court member identified in the meeting transcript as Calvin moved to approve the 25% payment; an unidentified speaker seconded the motion. The court approved the payment by voice vote.
The resolution authorizes the partial payment to allow contractors to continue repairs; S1 said additional work items added by contractors have been accepted and will be reimbursed. No dollar total for the full project was stated in the record.
The court did not set a further public hearing date on the project during the special called session. The next procedural step is implementation of contractor work already under way and routine oversight by court staff.
