Fort Bend County commissioners approve HGAC delegates, multi-year public office bonds and two grants including $450,000 for transit

The Fort Bend County Commissioners Court approved several administrative and funding actions during its Jan. 14, 2025 meeting, including appointment of delegates to the Houston-Galveston Area Council (HGAC), the recording of public office bonds, and two grants for county programs.

From agenda item 8a, the court designated representatives to the HGAC 2025 General Assembly and Board of Directors. The honorable Judge K. P. George was named the representative and delegate to the Board of Directors, and Commissioner Andy Myers was named as a representative and alternate to the board.

Per item 10b from the auditor's office, the court unanimously approved and recorded public office bonds effective Jan. 1, 2025, through Jan. 1, 2029. The bonds cover county commissioner precincts 1 and 3, the county sheriff, county attorney, the tax assessor-collector, and constables for precincts 1 through 4.

Under grants administration (items 15c and 15d), the court approved two grant actions. The first is a $450,000 award from the Federal Transit Administration for public transportation, composed of $360,000 in federal funds and a $90,000 local match. The second provides additional grant funds to the Sheriff's Office for the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF); the court noted no additional county funds were required for that award.
