Pickens County accepts City of Jasper annexation request for 490 Liberty Lane

The Pickens County Board of Commissioners accepted a request from the City of Jasper to annex 490 Liberty Lane, Chair said, and approved a motion to accept the request.

Chair explained the parcel is city property that houses Jasper’s water tower and that the annexation will align that parcel with city planning. He said the annexation follows prior boundary work related to a May 15 action and that accepting the city’s request does not create new access beyond what already exists via Highway 515. Chair also told the board that Jasper will hold a planning commission hearing on its end and scheduled a final adoption for May 6.

The board moved, seconded and approved accepting the annexation request by voice vote. Chair said the city’s hearing timeline will proceed on their end.
