The Pickens County Board approved three rezoning requests on April 15 that the planning and development office had forwarded after unanimous planning commission votes.
Chair read Rezone 190627, a request to change a 29.4‑acre tract on Carlin Road from suburban residential to agriculture; the planning commission had recommended approval 6–0 and the board followed that recommendation. Chair said the intended purpose was to allow sale to an individual who wishes to build a single‑family home and associated outbuildings.
Chair also presented two related rezoning items originating from Affordable Investments LLC (Rezone 190628 for a 1‑acre tract at 643 Highway 136 Connector) and a nearby 1‑acre portion of parcel 018030003. Both requests would change classification to suburban residential to resolve crossing septic lines and create buildable lots; both had 6–0 planning commission approvals and the board approved them as presented.
Motions to follow the planning commission recommendations were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote for each parcel. The board discussed driveway locations (driveways on Highway 136) and noted the rezoning would allow building permits to be obtained on the corrected lots.
