Council directs staff to continue drafting tiny‑home ordinance and to enforce camper/vehicle ordinances

Under unfinished business the Oakley City Council reviewed a model tiny‑home ordinance from Cheney and directed staff to seek planning‑commission input and return with a draft at the Dec. 15 council meeting. Council members said they preferred the Cheney sample for being concise and asked staff (Brock) to continue work on the ordinance.

Council members also raised concerns about campers and recreational vehicles being used as living units on private lots. Members discussed whether tiny homes must sit on permanent foundations and how camper situations intersect with vehicle‑parking and nuisance ordinances. The council asked staff to identify specific addresses where campers are present so the city can send enforcement letters.

No formal ordinance was adopted; direction was given to continue drafting and to bring the matter back to the council for consideration.
