The finance committee approved a two-year license allowing Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital to provide aquatic therapy at the city recreation center.
Jansen (Speaker 4) told the committee the hospital requested use of pool lanes or the leisure pool's zero-depth area for pediatric aquatic therapy; the parties negotiated a monthly license fee of $875 and modeled the agreement on an existing Cleveland Clinic lease. The law director reviewed the draft and staff sought an emergency clause so the program could begin scheduling patients in May. "This will run from 05/01/2025 through December 30 first of 2027," Jansen said.
Committee members asked about invoicing and scheduling; Jansen said the rec center will invoice monthly and coordinate scheduling with the hospital's Epic system. Members also noted the license contains a 30-day termination provision; the mayor observed that the clause permits either party to terminate on 30 days' written notice. After discussion a motion to approve the license including the emergency clause passed unanimously.
Staff will finalize the license and coordinate scheduling so the hospital can begin patient sessions in May.
