Miller Center updates, holiday events and new tourism manager announced

During departmental reports, staff updated the board on recreation and facility work at the Miller Center: resurfacing and completion of the football and tennis courts, installation of 28 pool lights (about half complete at the time of the report), and repainting and recoating of playground features. Staff proposed a ribbon-cutting on Dec. 6 and said the pool lighting would be switched on the coming Saturday. The Christmas parade route was announced to start at the Miller Center on Dec. 7.

In announcements, the board reappointed Steve Harvey as vice mayor by unanimous voice vote. The board also announced the hiring of Jordan Kupholz as the new tourism and marketing manager; the board member who made the announcement said Kupholz currently works at Fall Creek Falls and is due to start next Monday.

Staff invited board members to the Miller Center ribbon-cutting and said follow-up emails would confirm details. The board also noted that select board members will be contacted about committee assignments (planning commission, beer board, etc.). The meeting closed with a notice that an executive session on legal matters would follow adjournment.
