MPO approves TIP amendment to fund CCRTA electric replacement vehicles

The Cape Cod MPO voted to endorse TIP Amendment 1, which staff said would allocate approximately $530,000 in federal TIP funds to the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority (CCRTA) for replacement vehicles serving its DART service.

Eileen (MPO staff) explained the amendment at the meeting and said the RTA intends to purchase zero‑emission vehicles for DART. Staff said the amendment was released for a 21‑day public comment period and received no public comments.

"The RTA has identified that when they use this money, they will be purchasing electric vehicles," staff said; MPO staff noted the RTA expected to replace about seven vehicles on the DART service.

Mark Forrest moved to approve the amendment and Harold Mitchell seconded. The clerk conducted a roll call; the motion carried and the amendment was endorsed by the MPO.

The amendment funds replacement vehicles only; project implementation and procurement will be managed by the CCRTA as the transit operator. CCRTA staff (present at the meeting) were available to answer questions.
