Jason Curry was sworn in as director of the Division of Outdoor Recreation at the commission's December meeting. "I, Jason Curry, having been elected or appointed to the office of Outdoor Adventure Commission, do solemnly swear or affirm that I will support, obey, and defend the constitution of The United States and that I will discharge the duties of my office with fidelity," Curry recited during the oath.
Commission members welcomed Curry after the oath. An introducing official said Curry "brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience and a passion for all things outdoor recreation," and called the role "one of the most popular jobs in the state of Utah." Speakers noted the position's statewide importance and flagged drought and water-conservation work as an early area of focus.
The swearing-in preceded the commission's regular agenda items, including rule notifications and budget presentations. The commission took no formal vote related to Curry's appointment during the meeting; the gathering continued with staff reports and legislative previews.
