Staff informed the council that the current AV system in the council chambers is near end-of-life and recent failures (including an audio board lost to a power surge) require replacement planning.
Jasper Krugel described vendor quotes and estimated full replacement costs around $60,000. He asked for authorization of a not-to-exceed $15,000 budget (to be paid from cable fund dollars) for a temporary five-year solution and to have staff develop options for a longer-term replacement. “What I'm requesting is, you know, kind of a budget of $15,000 not to exceed, to kinda develop something here,” Krugel said.
Council members urged staff to return with a detailed plan and cost breakdowns and questioned whether a lower-cost solution might suffice. Staff noted the current projector uses bulbs that are no longer available and that some redundancy will be needed to avoid meeting interruptions. Council asked staff to pursue options and bring recommendations back for formal consideration.
