Senate committee approves resolution urging Congress to extend 2017 tax law provisions

An unidentified committee member introduced a House Concurrent Resolution (HCR) asking Congress to continue provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 that are scheduled to expire, saying the resolution contains a number of "whereas" clauses and will be transmitted to Congress. "This is a house concurrent resolution ... just basically to urge Congress to continue the Tax Cut and Jobs Act of 2017," the presenter said.

The measure drew no questions from members and no public testimony. Committee leadership called for a motion, received a second and approved the resolution by voice vote. The chair recorded the vote as "aye" and announced the resolution had passed.
