State agencies committee advances several technical bills, including FOIA and accounting wording fixes

The Senate State Agencies committee advanced several largely technical measures during its Jan. 16 hearing.

SB 87: Senator Dodson presented SB 87 with assistance from Mr. Miller of the bureau; sponsor described the bill as lengthy but largely uncodified transition language. With no questions, the committee approved a do-pass motion by voice vote.

SB 114: Senator Tucker presented a fix to a campaign-finance reporting deadline that closed an unintended one-day gap created by a prior law. SB 180: Senator Dodson said SB 180 is a short cleanup to align state wording with the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (changing phrasing to 'comprehensive annual financial report'); the committee approved the bill.

House Bill 1099: Senator Peyton presented HB 1099 to clarify that an appeal for an attorney-general opinion on a denied public-records request must be filed before the close of the attorney general’s office the following business day rather than be read as an interpreted 24-hour rule. The committee moved the bill do pass.
