At its organizational meeting the Goodhue County Economic Development Authority approved a 5% increase to its annual contract with CETA.
Staff summarized the history of the contract, saying the county has contracted with CETA for nearly two decades and that typical past increases ranged from 0% to 3%. The presenter told the board that CETA is asking for a 5% increase this year and that staff recommended approval because wages and benefits have increased broadly and CETAs services remain cost-effective for larger joint projects.
One board member asked what the county would do without CETA; staff replied the county could have county staff perform some functions but that larger projects are more cost-effective under CETA or when CETA already holds contracts with partnering cities. A motion to approve the CETA contract and rate adjustment was moved and seconded; the board approved the motion by voice vote.
The approval preserves the countys relationship with CETA for services that streamline joint local and city economic development projects.
