Multiple residents told the Huntington Township Board of Supervisors that contracted garbage collection had been unreliable in recent weeks, with several missed pickups and delayed service before and after the holidays.
Ken Donor described frequent missed pickups and noted that the service is prepaid by residents; another resident who identified their address at 3509 Carlisle Road said other townships have forced residents to participate in township contracts and then attracted alternative bidders with better pricing.
Supervisors said they had received complaints, asked for specific written complaint details and said the township solicitor would look into contractual remedies, including pursuing a default penalty if the contract terms were breached. The board discussed possible recycling or electronics collection events in spring and fall and noted that inter-township arrangements can allow revenue from recycling to benefit community events.
No formal enforcement action was approved at the meeting; supervisors asked staff to compile complaint records for the solicitor and to explore next steps in the contract process.
