Exeter — The Town Council approved several event and business licenses during its May 6 meeting, including a festival license for the Friends of the Exeter Public Library, a private wedding music permit and a renewal of a solicitor’s license.
Helen Douglas, president of the Friends of the Edgerton Public Library, asked the council to waive the $100 application fee for the organization’s annual fall festival at Yago Valley Ski Area, noting the group’s nonprofit status and long record of supporting the library. Following public comment that described a successful past event (including strong vendor interest and rain-or-shine attendance), the council voted to approve the outdoor entertainment license and to waive the $100 fee.
The council also held a hearing for John and Pamela Rosa, who sought permission for music at a private wedding on Aug. 3 at 68 Beechwood Hill Trail. The applicants told the council the band would play from noon to 5 p.m., that neighbors had been notified, and that a tent would be used; the council closed the hearing and proceeded with approval.
In separate business the council renewed a solicitor (door‑to‑door) license for Andersen of Southern New England Windows LLC. Applicant Joshua Kelly described company practices for identification, marked shirts for staff and background checks; council members asked whether BCI checks were performed and the applicant said the company requires background checks and provides staff identification. The renewal was granted for a one‑year period as stated in the application.
These actions reflect routine licensing oversight by the council and were approved by voice vote.
