The Senate Education Committee advanced two additional measures by voice vote during the same hearing session.
House Bill 16-78: Senator James Church presented HB16-78 on behalf of Representative Allen to allow the Arkansas Department of Education to promulgate rules permitting higher-education teaching experience to count toward a K-12 teaching license. Ivy Pfeffer of the Department of Education said reciprocity processes apply for out-of-state instructors and that the Department would craft rules to clarify eligibility. A committee member moved "do pass" and the bill passed by voice vote.
House/Senate Bill 576: Senator Clark briefly presented HSB576; the bill recorded no fiscal impact in the hearing and the committee passed it by voice vote near adjournment.
Both measures recorded voice approval in committee; the hearing transcript does not include roll-call tallies for those votes.
