Committee approves ADOT statutory-reference cleanup bill

Senator Charles Beckham presented House Bill 1602 as an agency bill for the Arkansas Department of Transportation to update a statutory reference so state law points to the correct federal code section. "It's a cleanup bill," Beckham said, explaining the change ensures accurate references for those relying on state statutes.

Gil Rogers of the Arkansas Department of Transportation told the committee the agency follows federal law and that the bill's purpose is to ensure state statute matches the federal reference so future changes or actions are clear. "This is just, to make sure that we those who are looking to in state statutes to find out what we're relying on, have the accurate reference," Rogers said.

Senators moved and passed the bill by voice vote with no additional discussion recorded.
