The Holyoke City Council voted 12–1 on Nov. 18 to adopt the mayor’s supplemental budget, moving forward with a revised package after brief discussion in Finance Committee.
Finance Chair Councilor Sullivan told the council the revised supplemental total is smaller than what was originally circulated: “the amount of reduction in the total overall city budget in the original supplement that was sent to us was $361,570; the new number is $299,656,” and she said the committee preserved a $61,914 property‑maintenance line item. The chair characterized the document as a committee‑recommended package and said members could make single‑line cuts if they wished but that no changes were offered.
Councilors pressed only lightly for details. After the brief discussion, the clerk called a roll‑call vote to adopt the supplemental budget as a package. The clerk recorded 12 yeas and 1 nay; the motion carried and the council accepted the supplemental appropriation.
What happens next: The adopted supplemental budget will be reflected in the city’s financial records and implemented through the departments named in the packet. Finance staff said the committee circulated a letter describing the changes and directed councilors to that letter for detailed line‑item information.
No additional funding decisions were made during the meeting. Councilors who wanted further detail were directed to the committee materials and the city auditor’s communications.
