The Utah Senate completed a series of mostly uncontroversial floor actions on Day 17. The chamber approved multiple House bills returned from the House and transmitted several Senate bills for committee consideration or to the President for signature. Key floor actions included:
- HB22 (concurrent enrollment revisions): Sen. Fillmore said the bill "adds an apprenticeship as an option to receive a transform certificate." The Senate passed the bill and will return it to the House for the Speaker's signature.
- HB42 (water rights publication amendments): Sen. McHale said the State Water Engineer will be able to provide electronic notifications under the bill. The Senate passed HB42 (27 yea, 0 nay, 2 absent).
- HB54 (coal miner certification panel amendments): Sen. Hinkins explained the bill extends the panel's sunset for 10 years to July 1, 2034, described panel membership and duties relating to miner certifications, and the Senate passed the measure.
- HB23 (Outdoor Recreation Advisory Council): Sen. Sandel said the bill extends the council to 2029; the Senate passed the bill.
- HB19 (higher education financial aid amendments): Sen. Johnson said the bill amends tuition-fee assistance definitions so members of the Utah National Guard can be reimbursed; the Senate passed the bill.
- HB10 (Public Fund Amendments): Sen. Wilson described consolidating disclosures into one report from the Treasurer and requiring the Treasurer to report current balances to the political subdivision committee; the Senate passed the bill and will return it to the House for the Speaker's signature.
Several additional Senate bills were read for the first time and sent to the Rules Committee; the chamber also approved committee reports and set SJR11 for a time certain on Tuesday, Feb. 6 at 2:15 p.m.
