Utah Senate consents to Governor Cox’s slate of appointments

The Senate considered and consented to a group of appointments transmitted by Governor Spencer J. Cox in accordance with Utah Code. The governor’s letter listed nominees and stated that documentation demonstrating legal qualifications was available in the agenda packet.

Appointments announced included reappointments and new appointees: Ashley Kornblatt to the Quality Growth Commission (reappointment, unaffiliated), Mark Packard to the State Money Management Council (Republican, replacing Doug Defries), Lou W. Kramer to the Transportation Commission (reappointment), and Todd Robert Bailey and Matthew L. McCullough to the Utah Digital Health Service Commission.

Senator Bramble moved approval; after brief floor remarks and limited discussion, the Senate took a roll-call vote and consented to the appointments with 24 yea, 0 nay votes and 5 absences. The Senate president congratulated the appointees and recognized Brooke Scheffler from the governor’s office, who oversees boards and commissions communications.

The consent vote will transmit confirmations and returned paperwork to the governor’s office as required by statute.
