Disability-ombudsman bill presented, then tabled on fiscal concerns

Senator Weiler presented House Bill 150 to establish a Disability Ombudsman Program that would act as a liaison to the Legislature and reduce barriers for people with disabilities.

"This bill comes from recognizing that individuals with disabilities...present a lot of barriers for them," Senator Weiler said, and he noted a fiscal note of about $143,000 attached to the proposal. The sponsor moved that HB150 be read for a third time; the roll-call showed the bill had received sufficient support to be read for the third time.

Senator Ipsen then moved to table HB150 on third reading "due to fiscal impact." President Adams called the question; with no further floor discussion, the motion to table passed.
