Granbury council approves pawn shop SUP and rezoning for drive-through coffee

The Granbury City Council unanimously approved two land-use items Dec. 2: a specific use permit (SUP) for a pawn shop at 2607 East U.S. Highway 377 and a zoning change for a small parcel at 371 Loop 567 to light commercial to allow a drive-through coffee shop.

Community Development Director Kara Wallway presented both items and explained that the pawn shop property (2607 E. US Hwy 377) is already in a light-commercial zone and the SUP would be tied to a site plan that includes no outdoor storage or display and requires parking and maneuvering to occur on improved surfaces. Staff and the Planning & Zoning Commission recommended approval; staff said one letter in favor was received and no letters in opposition. With no public speakers at the hearing, the council adopted Ordinance No. 25-74 approving the SUP on a 6-0 vote.

Wallway also presented the rezoning request from Susan Sledge for 371 Loop 567, noting the site is a small, developable parcel consistent with the comprehensive plan and with infrastructure in place; planning staff and the planning commission recommended approval. The council approved Ordinance No. 25-75 rezoning the parcel from interim holding to light commercial, also by a 6-0 vote.

What’s next: approvals are tied to the applicants’ compliance with the approved site plans and any conditions imposed by the council; staff will monitor permitting and any required inspections.
