Board reviews January financials showing midyear revenue and expenditure snapshots

Caroline County Public Schools finance staff presented January 2025 revenue and expenditure figures at the Feb. 11 board meeting, giving the board an update on operating and special fund activity through the first half of the fiscal year.

The presenter reported January operating revenues of $8,300,000 and year-to-date operating revenues of $37,500,000 (59.31% of budget). Special fund revenues for January were reported at $530,000 with year-to-date special fund revenues of $4,900,000 (49.15%). The presenter noted total revenues for all funds and summarized year-to-date expenditure percentages; some spoken figures and slide formatting appeared inconsistent in the verbal report, and a board member asked when the division reconciles its records with the county. A finance staff member replied that the county had closed September and said further reconciliation questions would be addressed offline.

Board members offered no substantive motions regarding the financial report; the materials were presented for oversight and will inform upcoming budget discussions.
