Board approves consent agenda and superintendent personnel items after executive session

At its Feb. 11 meeting, the Caroline County Public Schools Board approved the consent agenda (items A–F) by roll-call vote and later moved into executive session to discuss superintendent personnel matters authorized by Virginia Code §2.2-3711(A)(1).

A board member moved to approve the consent agenda on the record. The board then conducted a roll-call vote; recorded ayes included Joanda/Jiranda Rollins Fells, Shawn Kelly, Dr. Michael Hubbard, Lydell Fortune, Allison Sears and Chair Calvin Taylor, and the chair declared the motion carried.

Later in the meeting the board voted to enter an executive session to discuss appointments, stipends, corrections, resignations, terminations, position and step changes and substitutes. After returning to open session, members certified the closed session and voted to approve the superintendent’s personnel agenda as presented. The certification votes were recorded as 'ISO certified' by those present and the personnel agenda motion carried.

No details of personnel appointments or separations were made in open session; the board followed statutory procedure to handle personnel matters in closed session and then approved the personnel agenda in public as required.
