Committee forwards reappointment of Supervisor Melgar to ABAG regional planning committee

The Rules Committee on Sept. 20 voted to send to the full board a motion reappointing Supervisor Rafael Mandelmann (as recorded in public discussion) to the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) Regional Planning Committee with a term ending Sept. 23, 2023. (The item as read identified Supervisor Melgar as the appointee.)

Public comment included a caller who objected with abusive language and David Pilpel, who recommended a technical correction to the title (suggesting removal of the phrase "Executive Board"). Committee staff and a legislative deputy later confirmed ABAG told staff the Regional Planning Committee is a committee under the Executive Board and that the item title was correct. The motion to send the reappointment to the full board carried without objection in roll-call votes recorded by the clerk.

The full board will consider the reappointment in its normal agenda process.
