Committee recommends expanding health‑insurance eligibility to several oversight boards

The Rules Committee on Jan. 10 considered an ordinance to amend the Administrative Code so members of several newly established oversight bodies may elect health‑insurance coverage through the San Francisco Health Service System.

Board President Walton described the measure as a simple administrative amendment to expand eligibility to the Public Works Commission, Sanitation and Streets Commission and the Sheriff’s Department Oversight Board. Chair Peskin asked about the fiscal impact; Walton said he would provide a per‑person cost. Later in the meeting Walton reported a city contribution range — $307.32 for the least expensive plan up to $399.80 for the most expensive plan — and noted total cost depends on how many commissioners enroll and which plan they choose.

On a motion by Chair Peskin, the committee voted to send the ordinance to the full Board with a recommendation. Roll call recorded Chan, Mandelmann and Peskin as "Aye," and the motion passed without objection.
