Committee forwards appointment of Supervisor Rafael Mandelman to state counties association

The Rules Committee on Oct. 25 voted to send to the full Board of Supervisors a motion appointing Supervisor Rafael Mandelman to the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) for a term ending Dec. 1, 2022. Chair Aaron Peskin said the appointment would allow the supervisor to advocate against state preemption of local government authority.

Peskin made the motion to forward the appointment to the Board with a recommendation. After the clerk confirmed no public commenters on the item, the committee took a roll-call vote: Supervisor Connie Chan — Aye; Chair Aaron Peskin — Aye. The clerk recorded the motion as passing by a vote of 2 to 0 with Supervisor Mandelman excused from the vote.
