Chair Aaron Peskin opened the Rules Committee and described the role of the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Public Authority, thanking IHSS workers for service during the pandemic. The committee considered multiple applicants for staggered terms on the Public Authority and found the paperwork and qualifications in order.
Peskin moved to recommend appointments for several applicants: Hedy/Heidi Hernandez for seat 4 (with a residency waiver noted in the record), Jesse Nichols for seat 5, Rita Semmel for reappointment to seat 6, Alexander Madrid for seat 9, Sasha Bittner for seat 11, and Robin Wilson Beatty for seat 13. Clerk Victor Young called the roll; Supervisors Connie Chan, Rafael Mandelmann and Chair Aaron Peskin each voted aye. The motion passed without objection.
Peskin noted staff had confirmed Rita Semmel met the Human Services Commission membership requirement. He also stated that vaccination verification had been received for all appointees except Ms. Hernandez and that the committee would allow until April 5 to receive that documentation before the matter proceeds further to the full Board.
Public comment was opened for the item, but the clerk reported there were no speakers in the chamber and no callers in the remote queue.
The committee sent the recommended appointments to the full Board for final consideration.
