Rules committee sends multiple appointments and routine items to full Board

The Rules Committee on July 25 cleared several appointments and routine items for consideration by the full Board of Supervisors.

Item 1: The committee found that, subject to conditions, Tiffany Carter’s proposal to seek grants and contracts administered by the Office of Economic and Workforce Development to benefit SF Black Wall Street entities was not incompatible with her membership on the Small Business Commission and sent that finding as a committee report.

Item 3: The committee recommended reappointment of Lieutenant David Falzon to the Entertainment Commission (term ending July 2026). Supervisors said Falzon has decades of experience and supported moving the nomination to the full Board.

Item 4: The committee considered John Transvenia’s appointment to the Board of Appeals. Supervisors and the board chair praised Transvenia’s qualifications, though public comment included both endorsements and objections tied to his past writings and views; the committee forwarded the nomination with recommendation to the full Board.

Item 5: The committee recommended sending to the full Board a motion to appoint Supervisor Matt Dorsey to the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District Board. Public commenters supported increasing supervisory representation on the bridge district board.

Item 7: The committee held the required hearing on a mayoral-submitted ballot initiative to amend rules about campaign payment solicitations; no callers spoke and the committee filed the matter.

All items described above were forwarded as committee reports or filed as indicated and will proceed to the full Board for final action.
