Rules Committee advances several commission appointments to the full board with positive recommendations

SAN FRANCISCO — The Rules Committee on Monday approved a series of nominations and appointments and sent them to the full Board of Supervisors with positive recommendations.

The committee confirmed a motion to amend and forward the mayor’s reappointment of Alex Ludlam to the Office of Community Investment and Infrastructure (successor agency), acknowledging his work on budgets, Transbay parks and coordination with the Transbay Authority. Mr. Ludlam told the committee he had been "parsing budgets" and assisting with fundraising and joint-venture timelines.

The committee also advanced Michael Lambert’s nomination to the Children and Families First Commission (term ending Oct. 8, 2026). Mr. Lambert, a long-time public librarian, described three decades in libraries and work supporting 0-to-5 programs; the committee removed references to a residency waiver after verifying Mr. Lambert lives in the city.

For another seat on the Children and Families First Commission, the committee heard two applicants for seat 7. The chair said he would send Mr. Crawford to the full board with a residency waiver and a positive recommendation after discussion of candidate experience and board composition.

The committee appointed Cindy Lopez Chastain to seat 8 and Monique Giedry to seat 9 on the Early Childhood Community Oversight and Advisory Committee after hearing from applicants about classroom experience, early-childhood research and nonprofit leadership. The committee noted the difficulty of the choices and cited representation and lived-experience considerations in deliberations.

All roll-call votes on these items were unanimous among the committee members present (Chair Aaron Peskin, Vice Chair Rafael Mandelman and Supervisor Connie Chan). Items moved forward to the full board for final action.
