Rules Committee backs OCII nominee Tamsen Drew and sends confirmation to full board

The Rules Committee on Feb. 27 voted unanimously to send the mayor's nomination of Tamsen (Tamsen/Tamzin in comments) Drew to the Office of Community Investment and Infrastructure (OCII) to the full Board of Supervisors with a positive recommendation.

Drew outlined her experience managing large redevelopment projects including Hunters Point Shipyard and Candlestick Point, handling public benefits reporting, community engagement and public financing tools. “I would be honored to give my time to this incredibly impactful and important work and humbly request your support of my confirmation,” Drew said in her opening remarks.

Vice Chair Shimon Walton pressed Drew on oversight of the Hunters Point Shipyard cleanup and the falsification of documents by a contractor, Tetra Tech. Drew said independent third‑party inspection during remediation and better community engagement would be priorities if confirmed. Supporters including Andrew Robinson of the East Cut Community Benefits District, Toniqa (All Home) and others urged the committee to confirm Drew, citing her city experience and community ties.

Chair Dorsey moved to amend the draft to remove a draft 'reject' language and forward the nomination to the full board with a positive recommendation; the motion passed without objection.

What happens next: the Board of Supervisors will take up Drew's confirmation at its next meeting. Committee members said they expect Drew to prioritize environmental cleanup oversight and outreach to displaced residents and Certificate of Preference holders.
