At its April 3 meeting the Rules Committee advanced a set of mayoral appointments and a rules amendment to the full Board and continued one ethics reappointment due to connectivity problems.
The committee unanimously forwarded Mayor’s nominees to the full Board with positive recommendations for: Timothy Reif to the Treasure Island Development Authority; Ed Harrington to the Port Commission; and it recommended the reappointments of Steve Hemminger and Amanda Eakin to the SFMTA board (each advanced after Q&A and public comment). The committee also amended and forwarded a rules change to formalize remote public comment. Votes on the nominations and the rules amendment were unanimous in committee, with Vice Chair Walton, Supervisor Safaie and Chair Dorsey recorded as Aye on each roll call.
Item 1—reappointment of Larry Bush to the Ethics Commission—was called at the start but the nominee could not be connected remotely; after public commenters asked for prompt action the committee voted to continue item 1 to the call of the chair, which preserves the vacancy until the appointment is completed.
The committee repeatedly noted that some packet materials (Form 700 disclosures and committee packets) appeared to be outdated in the published Legistar materials; multiple public commenters urged staff to correct the records for transparency.
