Rules Committee sends proposal to dissolve Youth, Young Adults and Families committee to full Board

The Rules Committee on Monday voted to forward to the full Board a change to the Board’s rules that would dissolve the Youth, Young Adults and Families committee.

Chair Matt Dorsey, reading remarks from Supervisor Hillary Ronan, said dissolving the committee does not mean the Board is deprioritizing youth or education issues. "We will continue to engage in these issues by channeling hearings and legislation as needed to other committee assignments, as well as through the work each district office does," the remarks stated.

Supervisors echoed appreciation for the committee’s work and highlighted legacy initiatives such as Prop G and the student success fund, which aim to add enrichment and close achievement gaps. The committee received no public comment on the item and voted without objection to send the change to the full Board with a positive recommendation.

The ordinance will next be considered by the full Board of Supervisors.
