Robert Vergara, nominated by the mayor for the Historic Preservation Commission, spoke to the Rules Committee about his background as a lifelong San Franciscan and a history educator.
"I'm born and raised San Franciscan. I've been teaching history ... for 41 years," Vergara said, telling supervisors he hoped to contribute to the city's preservation work.
A single in-person commenter praised Vergara's knowledge of city history and urged the committee to support his appointment. Chair Matt Dorsey moved to strike references to "reject" from the legislation and forward the nomination as amended. The clerk recorded the motion and the committee passed it without objection. The committee announced it will send Vergara’s nomination to the full Board for approval on the upcoming agenda.
No formal dissent or questions were recorded during the item. The committee’s action was procedural and the nomination will appear on the Board of Supervisors agenda for final consideration.
