Committee sends two liquor license transfers to full Board with positive recommendations

The Public Safety and Neighborhood Services Committee on Nov. 19 voted unanimously to send two separate liquor-license transfers to the full Board of Supervisors with positive recommendations.

Chair Supervisor Gordon Marr moved to direct the clerk to prepare a resolution finding that the transfer of a Type 51 member-club liquor license to Treasure Island Yacht Club (1 Avenue of the Palms, Building 1, Suite 133, District 6) will serve the public convenience and necessity and to forward it to the full Board with a positive recommendation. Officer Salmonson of the SFPD Alcohol Liaison Unit reported “0 letters of protest, 0 letters of support,” said the site sits in a plot the unit classifies as high crime but in a low‑saturation census tract, and stated that “Alcohol Liaison Unit recommends approval with no additional conditions.” Treasure Island Development Authority representative Rich Ravetti said TIDA supports the club’s relocation from Hangar 2 to Building 1. The committee voted 3–0 (Haney, Peskin, Marr) to send the resolution forward.

On a separate item, the committee voted 3–0 to forward a resolution recommending approval of the transfer of a Type 21 off‑sale general license to Bottle Vaxnol LLC (doing business as Bottle Bacchanal) at 4126 18th Street in District 8. Officer Salmonson reported no letters of protest or support, said Mission Station had no opposition and noted the site is in a high‑crime, high‑saturation census tract; ALU recommended approval with a condition that the petitioner “shall actively monitor the area under their control” to help prevent loitering, a condition the petitioner had accepted as of Nov. 9. Owner Bess Hughes described Bottle Bacchanal as a “woman owned, boutique bottle shop” focused on natural wines, craft beers and community events.

Next steps: Both items will appear on the Board of Supervisors agenda on Nov. 30 for final consideration.
