Committee forwards three liquor‑license transfers to full Board with positive recommendations

The committee voted July 14 to send three separate liquor‑license transfers to the full Board of Supervisors with positive recommendations.

Officer Salmonson, the SFPD/ABC liaison, told the committee there were no letters of protest for any of the three applications and that the ALU recommended approval in each case — in two instances with standard conditions requiring the petitioner to actively monitor the immediate area, discourage loitering and maintain litter control. For the South End Rowing Club, ALU recommended approval without additional conditions.

Ahmed Tasi, who identified himself as the operator for Golden Stage Consulting LLC doing business as Olive Specialty Grocery (304 Clement St., District 1), said the store already operates a food section and would like to add beer, wine and distilled spirits. “We would like to also offer the spreads,” he told the committee, and said he had neighborhood letters of support.

Owners of Millie Wine Bar described plans for a small neighborhood wine bar at 110 Folsom Street (District 6). A representative of the Eastcut Community Benefit District spoke in favor, saying the bar would “strengthen our retail fabric” and activate downtown evenings and weekends.

Josh Sale represented the South End Rowing Club and said the nonprofit, founded in 1873 and open to the public three days a week, seeks a permanent Type 51 license so members can legally continue the incidental alcohol consumption that typically accompanies club gatherings.

Chair Supervisor Gordon Marr moved for each item to be forwarded to the Board with a resolution finding the transfers serve the public convenience and necessity. On each motion the roll call recorded Vice Chair Stephanie, Member Melgar and Chair Marr voting aye. Each committee vote was 3–0 and the items will be considered by the full Board.

Next steps: the clerk will prepare resolutions for the Board agenda and the items will appear on the July 26, 2022 Board of Supervisors agenda unless otherwise noted.
