Committee forwards positive recommendation for 7‑Eleven’s beer‑and‑wine request at Sansom Street

Supervisor Gordon Mar called Item 2, the proposed transfer of a type 20 off‑sale beer and wine license for a 7‑Eleven at 221 Sansom Street in District 3. Officer Salmonson reported “0 letters of protest, 0 letters of support,” noted the location is in Plot 160 and Census Tract 117 (both flagged as high‑saturation/high‑crime areas in the report), and said Central Station had no opposition. The liaison recommended approval with a condition that the licensee actively monitor the area to prevent loitering per ABC guidance.

Ryan Kroll, representing the franchisee and 7‑Eleven Inc., told the committee Mr. and Mrs. Singh have owned and operated the store about 10 years and that the applicant submitted roughly 118 signatures of support. Kroll said planning recommended approval and that the applicant agreed to the ABC/police condition.

There was no public comment. Chair Mar moved to direct the clerk to prepare a resolution determining the transfer serves the public convenience and necessity and to forward it with a positive recommendation. Vice Chair Katherine Stephanie voted aye; Member Myrna Melgar was absent; Chair Mar voted aye and the committee recorded the item to be sent forward with a positive recommendation. The clerk and chair later clarified committee‑report procedures and recorded motions to rescind and reissue one item as a committee report.
