Committee recommends approval for South Sea Dipper liquor license transfer in North Beach

The Public Safety and Neighborhood Services Committee voted unanimously to recommend that the Board of Supervisors approve transferring a Type 48 on‑sale general liquor license to Future Bars Group for the South Sea Dipper project at 270 Columbus Avenue. The SFPD ALU reported no letters of protest or support and located the site in a high‑crime, high‑saturation plot; ALU recommended approval with conditions to prevent loitering and that no noise be audible at nearby residences.

Representatives for the applicant described plans to reactivate a century‑old former bank building on the corner of Columbus and Broadway and to operate a cocktail‑bar concept designed to generate foot traffic in a corridor that has experienced closures. “We’re excited to be opening another cocktail bar … it should definitely bring some positive foot traffic to that part of North Beach,” said Brian Sheehy, president of Future Bars.

There were no in‑chamber or telephonic public commenters on the item. Chair Marr moved to prepare a resolution recommending approval; the committee recorded three ayes and will forward the item to the full board with a positive recommendation.
