Committee backs person‑to‑person transfer of Epicurean Trader’s off‑sale liquor license

The Public Safety and Neighborhood Services Committee voted June 8 to recommend that the full Board approve a person‑to‑person, premises‑to‑premises transfer of a Type 21 off‑sale general beer, wine and distilled spirits liquor license to Epicurean Trader, located at 2240 Market Street (District 8).

SFPD’s ABC liaison told the committee there were zero letters of protest and zero letters of support, that the location sits in a low‑crime plot but a high‑saturation census tract, and recommended approval with a condition that the petitioner actively monitor adjacent property to prevent loitering. No in‑chamber speakers approached the podium and there were no callers in the remote queue when public comment was called. Chair Supervisor Catherine Stephanie said District 8 Supervisor Mandelmann is supportive.

Chair Stephanie moved that the clerk prepare a resolution making a determination that the transfer would serve the public convenience or necessity and to send the resolution to the full Board with a positive recommendation. Supervisors Dorsey, Engadio and Stephanie voted aye.

Next step: the committee will forward the prepared resolution and packet to the Board of Supervisors for a final licensing decision.
