The Public Safety and Neighborhood Services Committee voted to send a resolution to the full San Francisco Board of Supervisors recommending approval of a person-to-person premises transfer of a Type 21 off-sale general (beer, wine and distilled spirits) liquor license to CoolWater SF LLC, doing business as Slake, for a proposed storefront at 3239 Balboa Street in District 1.
Officer Salmasen of the SFPD ABC liaison unit told the committee, “They are located in Plot 744, which is considered low crime,” and said Census Tract 47801 is considered “low saturation.” Salmasen reported the Richmond station had no opposition and that the alcohol liaison unit recommended approval.
Applicant Daniel Levitt, who identified himself as the sole member of the LLC, described the store as a neighborhood bottle shop in the Outer Richmond and said the location is close to where his family lives. He told supervisors he formed the LLC to open a storefront serving the local neighborhood.
There were no in-person or remote public commenters on the item. Chair Supervisor Catherine Stephanie moved that the clerk prepare a resolution finding the transfer would serve the public convenience or necessity and asked that the resolution be sent to the full Board as a committee report with a positive recommendation. The clerk recorded the roll call as: Angadio (recorded in the transcript as En Gardeo), aye; Dorsey, aye; Chair Stephanie, aye. The motion advanced the item to the Board as a committee report with a positive recommendation.
Next steps: the committee noted the item will appear before the Board of Supervisors; the clerk stated items acted on today are expected to appear on the Board’s agenda of 09/26/2023. The committee did not receive written-support letters for this application during the meeting.
