Committee recommends landmarking a 75+-year-old cork oak at 20th & Noe

Supervisor Mandelmann asked the committee to send an ordinance to the full Board to designate a cork oak tree located at 20th Street and Noe Street as a landmark tree under the Public Works Code. Mandelmann noted neighbors organized a petition with about 50 signatures and the Urban Forestry Council determined the tree met landmark criteria based on age (at least 75 years), physical attributes, environmental benefits and cultural/neighborhood value. The Dolores Heights Improvement Club and a lead gardener, David Dea, spoke in favor of landmarking during public comment. The committee voted to forward the item with a positive recommendation.
