The Land Use and Transportation Committee on March 6 continued an ordinance to clarify the ministerial approval process for certain accessory dwelling units (ADUs) at the mayor's request, scheduling further consideration for March 13.
Clerk Erica Major read Item 2, described as an ordinance amending the planning code to clarify ministerial approval for ADUs that meet specified requirements in single-family and multifamily buildings. Chair Mirna Melgar said the mayor’s office asked that the item be continued to next week.
Jake Price, calling on behalf of the Housing Action Coalition, phoned in support of the item. The committee then voted to continue the ADU ordinance to the March 13 meeting; supervisors Peskin, Preston and Melgar recorded 'aye' votes.
The continuance means the committee will take up the ADU ordinance again at its March 13 meeting; no formal amendments or votes on the substance of the ordinance were taken on March 6.
