The committee voted on May 1 to forward two planning code ordinances to the full Board with positive recommendations.
Item 7 would exclude designated historic districts under Article 10 of the Planning Code from the HOME SF (Home Ownership Means Equity) program. Item 8 would allow projects to qualify for a density bonus under the Housing Opportunities Means Equity program by agreeing to subject new units to the rent‑increase limitations of the Rent Ordinance, and would modify zoning changes available to HOME SF projects.
Staff Veronica Flores was available to answer questions but the Chair indicated there was no presentation because the items had been heard repeatedly. Jake Price of the Housing Action Coalition said his organization supports Item 8 and opposes Item 7. President Peskin moved to send both items to the full Board with a positive recommendation; Supervisors Peskin, Preston and Melgar voted aye and the motions passed. The items will appear on the Board agenda for May 9.
